Who wants to pack up my house?

14 January 2014

Tomorrow we move. Stacks of broken down cardboard boxes litter the house, but very few boxes have been packed. Jake is doing something noisy in his bedroom and periodically yelling: To Infimiby and Beyond! Lucy June is sleeping because unlike her brother, she is not a morning person. Jacob is working and will work all day. And I am blogging, at least until I finish my coffee...or until this happens.

Ah. Mothering...But it was a nice three minutes.

Alright. Off I go to keep my son from destroying all our packing efforts by bribing him with homemade Lara bars. He honestly reveres faux Laras like ice cream and don't you know I've brainwashed him.

If you don't already make your own, you should. Martha has a great how to on her blog. Our recent preferred recipe is: 1 c. walnuts, 1 c. dates, 1/2 c. coconut. Go forth and make.

  2. Good luck with the packing and moving. I shudder at the thought!! I'll be saying prayers for you, and I know getting in a house will be totally worth it in the end! I can't bring myself to make Lara bars, or buy them. My oldest son ate one for the first time when he was 14, resulting in a severe anaphylactic allergic reaction and a trip to the ER via ambulance. In which we discovered that he is violently allergic to cashews!! Thankfully, no other issues since then and no problems avoiding the nuts. But we still refer to Lara Bars as the "bars of death" in our house and I can't mentally bring myself to purchase one ever again!

  3. Good luck on the move! And thanks for the larabar rec. I picked up a cashew cookie bar at the grocery store today to see if Mary would like it, and it was a hit! Time to bust out the food processor and search out purveyors of cheap nuts and dates in Louisville.

  5. I totally get this scenario, that's why i'm so scared to be going back to distance study this year with Master Henry doing exactly what Master Jake is doing!
And packing….arrh it's nasty, make another cuppa quick before anyone sees!
As for Lara Bars, never heard of them, going to google them now xx

  8. Good luck with your move!! Last time we moved we only had one baby, and she was only 4 months old. In a few months we'll be doing it again with three… I'm not looking forward to the moving part, but the new place, yes. Hopefully you will get settled again quickly and enjoy your new surroundings!

  10. As someone who's moved four times in five years, I feel your packing-procrastination pain. Hope it's going we'll. best tip: set up the kids' beds and their room first.

  11. Hi Katie! How’s it going? How did the move go? I hope it wasn’t too stressful for you, even with your son and daughter in tow. I know, I’ve been there. Trying to coordinate how to properly get things done is a real chore, especially with 5 kids running around the house. Where did you guys go?
