A few days ago we had our first Texas honey harvest. After a rough start with a beetle infestation, the hive has been thriving.
Yesterday, Jacob turned the big 30.
(Jacob saw the above pic and said: Is that going over my coffin?) (I'm just venturing into the world of manual photography, and apparently I overexpose when I'm feeling sentimental.)
I've recently discovered that I enjoy honey on graham crackers or english muffins or biscuits... a jar of not-store-bought honey sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteYum!! On bananas!!
ReplyDeleteYesss! Happy Birthday, Jacob! I'd put in my mother's milk tea ;) ;)
ReplyDeleteI like it in cornbread and tea...we juuust ran out of Terlingua honey and would love a jar from another Texas region ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's so delicious!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it on some fresh, homemade bread with a little bit of butter :-) So good. Like...I could eat the whole loaf that way.
ReplyDeleteI take my honey in tea, on a spoon, and on toast.
ReplyDeleteBet the honey is delicious. I use mine to make challah. Also I drizzle it on Greek yogurt. Also, in steel cut oats. Yum!
ReplyDeleteIn tea, in greek yogurt, or straight up.
ReplyDeleteOn English muffins!
ReplyDeleteany & all ways! in smoothies, in coffee, on toast, in oatmeal, in tea, in thai peanut sauces…the possibilities are endless!
ReplyDeleteI just want some on a spoon. Yum!
ReplyDeleteMmm homegrown honey sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteOn homemade bread!
ReplyDeletehoney in my lemonade, always.
ReplyDeleteI love honey with oats, peanut butter, and just a little bit of vanilla. It's such an amazing protein rich snack!
ReplyDeleteOn homemade bread
ReplyDeleteOn everything and in everything.....tea and oatmeal especially!
ReplyDeleteIn my favorite smoothie: 1 sliced banana, frozen; 1 T peanut butter; 1/4 C yogurt; 1 T honey; and a splash of milk and cinnamon.
ReplyDeleteI like to put an inch thick layer of salted butter on a slice of bread and then coat the whole thang in honey. Because I'm all about health food.
ReplyDeleteah!!!!!! you guys are so cool. seriously. but we love honey on/in everything. plain. but most especially on fresh muffins (that i eliminate the sugar in bc i'm fun like that).
ReplyDeleteUsually just put it in some tea, but gettin some hella good ideas in these here comments.
ReplyDeleteoatmeal!!!!
ReplyDeleteOn a warm, toasted English muffin or in my tea. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I sorta cheated and said I follow you on FB. And I do, but right now my account is deactivated but just for a bit! I promise!
What Dwija said. But I also like it on yogurt loaded with strawberries and a very fine sprinkling of granola.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a babe. I'm crushing on your bangs.
ReplyDeleteI put honey in coffee (weird?) and I should start up my healthy smoothie habits again...honey would really help that along :)
i like to use it when i cook and then lick every last drop off the spoon and measuring cup when i'm done
ReplyDeletei make my own granola, and that's where i use honey the most. thanks for the giveaway! and happy birthday to your husband!
DeleteOn cornbread
ReplyDeleteTea, toast, cornbread, or oatmeal. Happy 30th to Jacob!
ReplyDeleteOatmeal and smoothies...
ReplyDeleteKate, this is the coolest thing ever! I loved mixing it with butter as a kid and putting it on a biscuit! Still do :)
ReplyDeleteOh my yummm..honey bread here I come!
ReplyDeleteI use honey in my hot toddy (hot water, honey, lemon, and jack daniels). Its the perfect remedy for a sore throat or just a cold wintery evening.
ReplyDeleteHot toddies are the best! But it's so much cooler to be like Sherlock Holmes and follow the life of the hive and reap its glories! Congrats :-)
ReplyDeleteI loooove honey. Tea, Greek yogurt, oatmeal, granola, lemon cayenne tea. And my latest obsession is putting it in this homemade body scrub.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Jacob! And yay St. Ambrose. My sister-in-law has a brother named Ambrose. We are toying with it as a possible middle name for the next hypothetical son!
On toast and english muffins!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Jacob!
In homemade elderberry syrup or mixed with butter and cinnamon on pancakes!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Happy birthday to your sweetie (you already took honey...)
Definitely on peanut butter toast - and sometimes in oatmeal too. :)
ReplyDeleteSwirled in my Greek yogurt. Yum!
ReplyDeleteIn anything and on anything! Homemade bread is the bestest though...
ReplyDeleteon fresh buns, right from the oven! with a little melted butter. mmmmm.
ReplyDeleteLove local honey! I was the Iowa Honey Queen in 2004 and have attended the American Beekeeping Federation Annual meeting a couple times in the past couple years. Had two hives in college but they didn't make it through an Iowa winter. Love the beekeeping community! and your blog!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome! We'd love to try some
ReplyDeleteYum Yum!
ReplyDeleteI do put it in tea, but my favorite use of honey is actually the only good part of feeling sick: a spoonful of honey, all by itself, as a throat soother. Yum, and ahhhhh.
ReplyDeleteI mostly like my honey in tea, but a few other ways that are high on my list include: honey butter, on cinnamon toast, in coffee, and peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Ooooh, and with hot water and lemon juice! Actually that probably even tops tea.
ReplyDeleteSo many amazing ways to use honey! I definitely love using it the most in my tea and yogurt. Such a fun giveaway and Happy Birthday Jacob!
ReplyDeleteHoney is wonderful! I definitely like it in my tea when I make it. Happy birthday to Jacob! I have to say, the 30's are kind of awesome.
ReplyDeleteIn tea...or on toast. Yum!
ReplyDeleteDrizzled over plain yogurt!
ReplyDeleteWith a few red pepper flakes (even though your Father doesn't quite approve:)
ReplyDeletePeanut butter and honey sandwich. Brings me back to being little!
ReplyDeleteOh yum! There's nothing better than fresh, real honey. Not the store-bought junk. I like mine in tea, and with almond butter on homemade waffles. Thanks for sharing your bounty!
ReplyDeleteHoney on Toast. All the way!
ReplyDeleteTOAST!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWould love to win this! I use honey for everything - baking, in my coffee, etc. The other day, I had a touch of viral pinkeye and I used a mix of honey, warm water and salt to make drops - cleared it up in one day!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh! On toast, fruit, yogurt, and in tea!
ReplyDeleteHoney! On everything. I've got some blood sugar issues, so we use it instead of sugar. But especially in tea ;)
ReplyDeleteI take my honey on bread and on babies. (me!me!me!)
ReplyDeleteI like honey in smoothies!!
